When Baby Needs Special Care
Sometimes a baby has a difficult birth or arrives prematurely. If that happens, treatment can begin right away—in the delivery room.

Feeding Your Baby
For the first four months, breast milk or formula provides your baby all the nutrients that are needed to grow.

Neonatal & Pediatric Services

At the Medical Center of South Arkansas, newborns and children receive special understanding and care needed at birth, and when an illness or injury occurs. Whether in the nursery, neonatal intensive care unit, or an inpatient pediatric bed, specialized care for newborns and children is provided at the Medical Center of South Arkansas by highly trained, compassionate staff. The Med Center has board- certified pediatricians and the only neonatologist in south Arkansas - a physician specializing in the care, development and diseases of newborns and infants.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

When more than newborn nursery care is needed, The Med Center's neonatal intensive care unit provides focused care to meet special medical needs of critically ill newborns. Instruction for special care infants is provided on an individual basis.
