Destination Healthcare: Vision to Reality
4/17/2018
Medical Center of South Arkansas CEO Scott Street believes leadership is an ‘all-in’ personal decision to serve. With the same enthusiasm he introduced his vision of Destination Healthcare for MCSA and El Dorado recently, Street reiterates his commitment to work with MCSA’s team members and community leaders.
“It’s an exciting time as we partner with our team members, physicians, patients and their families and community leaders to enhance care and grow services," Street said. “We took the first steps in transforming our vision into reality with simple but needed upgrades in our campus signage and our conference rooms in December. In February, pallets of materials were delivered and work began reconditioning and remodeling parts of the facility. We want to provide excellent patient care in a welcoming environment.”
Recognizing the need for specialty care, we welcome ear, nose and throat specialist Samuel W. Vallery, M.D., as a member of the MCSA medical staff. Dr. Vallery is board certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery and joined the Ear, Nose and Throat Associates of South Arkansas located on the MCSA campus at 620 West Grove Street, Suite 201. Dr. Vallery is accepting new patients.
The focus on providing specialists, nurses and medical staff will result in a new level of innovation, service and access.
As part of the mission to expand quality service and ease of access, MCSA instituted the 30-Minute-or-Less ER service pledge with the average ER wait time posted on the website at theMedCenter.net. “If you have an emergency, you want three things: compassion, skilled care and speed,” said Street. The pledge means patients will be initially seen by a clinical professional within 30-minutes of arrival at the ER. Of course, severe cases will always receive immediate attention. MCSA is the only Accredited Chest Pain Center and the only ER in the area offering the 30-Minute pledge.
MCSA is among the hospitals recently recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association in the 2018 Edition of U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals for our excellence in implementing the Get With The Guidelines program for stroke and the Mission: Lifeline for cardiovascular quality improvement. MCSA participates in the state-wide STEMI pilot program to better serve heart attack patients through enhanced communication between EMS and hospitals.
“It’s important that the business of healthcare and our mission and values for patient care intersect,” said Street. “Our investment in renovation, physician and staff recruitment, and service line expansion will result in the game changing innovation and service that we have set as our objective and purpose as MCSA becomes a destination for health care.”
