11/2/2018
El Dorado AR (Nov 5, 2018) Medical Center of South Arkansas (MCSA) now provides voluntary inpatient medical withdrawal management for people suffering from substance and alcohol abuse.
According to the Arkansas Department of Human Services, several types of illicit drugs contribute to the abuse and addiction problem in the state including alcohol, methamphetamine and opiates. In fact, drug-induced death rates are on the rise in Arkansas; with more than 400 deaths in 2017, overdoses may soon outpace motor vehicle deaths.
“The devastating effects of opioid and other addictions are real. We are compelled to respond to the needs of our community accordingly,” said Scott Street, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer, Medical Center of South Arkansas. “We believe medical withdrawal management can be a make difference maker for people who are seeking help.”
Patients often suffer a range of symptoms from anxiety and pain, to more serious and life-threatening conditions. MCSA Medical Withdrawal Management will treat these symptoms throughout the withdrawal period for opioid, alcohol and benzodiazepines. This helps ensure safe and effective medical results and positions the patient for successful outpatient recovery. Following discharge, MCSA will work with the patient to establish personalized, aftercare discharge plan for each patient.
