The Arkansas Children’s Hospital Nursery Alliance was formed to improve coordination of care between our team and the team at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. This alliance’s goal is to further improve the quality of newborn care through measured outcomes. The Nursery Alliance creates networking and learning opportunities shared between the two entities and allows us to work together to improve the health and well-being of babies, mothers and their families.
The Medical Center of South Arkansas Women’s Center is the first hospital in the state of Arkansas to participate in the national Family Connects program. Through the Family Connects program, our specialty trained Women’s Center Registered Nurses conduct no-cost postpartum home visits for every participating family and newborn born at our hospital regardless of income or socioeconomic status. Our mission is to increase child well-being by bridging the gap between parent needs and community resources. Family Connects has been evaluated and shown to improve parenting behavior, infant mortality and reduce emergency medical care for infants.
