Speech Therapy
Speech therapists (also known as speech-language pathologists) evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with a wide variety of conditions that affect oral motor skills, swallowing, speech development and language abilities. Medical Center of South Arkansas' speech therapists work closely with neurologists, ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctors and other specialists to thoroughly evaluate patients and treat a variety of conditions.
The speech-language pathology department at Medical Center of South Arkansas features a staff of licensed, ASHA certified speech-language pathologists who specialize in communication and swallowing disorders.
Individuals with speech, language, memory, cognitive and swallowing impairments receive evaluation and individually designed treatment and education when needed. Modified barium swallow studies (for the diagnosis and management of swallowing disorders) are provided by our radiology staff.
Our speech therapists provide customized treatment plans to address each patient's unique challenges, and offer valuable information and encouragement to support each individual's goals.
Services are available on a contract basis to inpatients, outpatients and home healthcare patients.
